Surrey City Orchestra performs ‘mainstage’ concerts. In addition there will be presentions by emerging musicians. There is also the Instrument Zoo where Festival goers can try their hands at playing various musical instruments.
There are classic mainstage dance presentations, plus interactive dance workshops. Also younger performers will display their work.
Both 2D (e.g. painting, photography) and 3D (e.g. sculpture, carving, pottery, textiles) art is featured with the artists standing by to demonstrate and/or discuss their work. There are also opportunities for Festival goers to experience hands-on creation of artistic work including pottery and textiles.
Drawing on the classical repertoire of many cultures and traditions, the Festival features ‘mainstage’ fully staged presentations, plus story-telling, street theatre, strolling performers, improv, fun drama workshops, and smaller theatrical presentations.
In addition to more formal presentations and performances by each of these disciplines, the Festival brings demonstrations, hands-on workshops and interactive events from many cultures and artistic disciplines, and is suitable for all ages.
The Festival emphasizes being entertaining while presenting high levels of artistic achievement, also featuring emerging art and artists.
